Howe has made things 'very difficult' for Postecoglu 'behind the scenes' at Celtic - Kenny

Eddie Howe could have made the next Celtic manager’s task more difficult in terms of recruitment.

That is according to ex-Premier League goalkeeper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively after Football Insider revealed that have Celtic submitted an offer to Ange Postecoglou to become their new boss.

This site understands that Celtic are pushing forward with Postecoglou despite a last-minute plea from Martin O’Neil to appoint Roy keane.

That follows a collapse in talks between Howe and the Celtic board over the ex-Bournemouth manager’s preferred backroom staff.

And the Glasgow giants have now pivoted to their second choice candidate in Postecoglou, the 55-year-old currently managing Yokohama F. Marinos in Japan.

Kenny admitted he had never heard of the former Australia boss but predicted that “wasted time” over Howe could mean he may find making top quality signings difficult.

He told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams: “There has been so much time wasted behind the scenes,’I Can’t Believe It’ – Pundit’s Celtic signings view after what Howe’s done ‘Behind The Scenes’ I can’t believe it.

“That will make it very difficult for this new guy coming in, in terms of having time to make new signings and all that.

“I thought they’d have gone for a new high profile manager. I’ve never heard of him, no disrespect to him. I bet a lot if not all Celtic fans won’t have heard of him either.

“Eddie Howe looks like it’s fallen through. But I’m sure they won’t be as excited about this appointment as they would by Eddie Howe. He’s managed more local football, in terms of the UK.

“I’d have been looking for a more high-profile manager for a club of that stature. I can’t believe more candidates haven’t come forward.”
