Celtic are keen on sealing a deal for Red Star Belgrade winger Luka Adzic, according to the player’s agent.
Adzic, who has been linked with Premier League Leicester, according to the Daily Record, has been tipped for a move abroad and his agent says Celtic want him.
The 6ft3in attacker prefers to play on the left but is right-footed, and has broken through into the first team where he’s made 14 SuperLiga performances this season, scoring one goal and adding two assists.
His agent, Radojica Bozovic, said: “I know that there is an interest from Celtic, but also some other clubs for Luka, but there was no concrete offer.
“We have decided Luka would leave the Red Star very soon. His father, and my godfather, Ivan talked with Mr Terzic (Red Star director of football) and the people from the club.
“”They told him that coach Milojevic does not seriously care for Luka.”
Football Insider verdict:
It’s been a quiet January so far for Brendan Rodgers – in complete contrast to Rangers. Rodgers has sealed deals for two players, Marvin Compper and Leiws Morgan, but the latter has been loaned back to St Mirren for the rest of the season. You could argue that Rodgers didn’t need to strengthen like Graeme Murty at Rangers, but fans will still want to see new signings and Rodgers himself has admitted they want to bring new faces in. It looks like they’re going to keep hold of striker Moussa Dembele until at least the end of the season, but Adzic would be a great buy. After breaking through to the Red Star team last season he’s bedded in and impressed this season – although it doesn’t sound like his manager wants to keep him. It sounds like his agent is agitating for a move so it remains to be seen if Celtic are indeed interested. If they are it should be a pretty straightforward deal, and the player is only contracted until the end of the year.
