Football Insider verdict

It just seems like a matter of time until this transfer is announced and Stuart Armstrong leaves Celtic after a very successful spell in Glasgow. Armstrong might have struggled last season to match his form of 2016-17, but when you consider the prices that players are often sold for in the English Premier League then it can be argued are getting themselves a bargain, and not for the first time at Celtic Park. Armstrong will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of the likes of Fraser Forster and Virgil van Dijk, who moved from the Hoops to Southampton and went on to have huge success in England. Only time will tell if he is good enough to make the impact those two players have made in the Premier League, but there is no doubt that on his day Armstrong is more than good enough to become a first-team regular for the team who finished in 17th place in the Premier League.
