Middlesbrough have finalised the signing of Patrick Roberts from Man City and an announcement is imminent, Football Insider understands.
There is concern among the Boro faithful that the loan deal for the 23-year-old may have hit the skids after delays in recent days.
A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Roberts has already passed a Middlesbrough medical and the club are set to announce his re-signing in the next 24-48 hours.
It comes after the former Celtic and Fulham winger spent the second half of last season at the Riverside Stadium.
Roberts played 11 times, scored once and chipped in with three assists after he made the switch in January.
He had spent the first half of last season with Premier League side Norwich City but failed to make an impact and was limited to just 24 top-flight minutes.
Roberts burst on to the scene at Fulham and moved to City for £12million in 2015 at the age of just 18.
However, he has played just one Premier League game for the Premier League giants and spent most of his time out on loan.
He played some of his best football at Celtic, where an 18-month loan spell yielded 18 goals and 26 assists from 78 matches.
Roberts still has two years left on his Manchester City contract after he signed a new three-year deal last summer.
Boro have taken five points from their opening four league matches this season, registering their first win against Barnsley last weekend.
