Celtic cannot waste any time this summer as they pursue Hibernian midfielder John McGinn, after it was reported that Premier League duo Bournemouth and Brighton are both hot on the heels of the player.
The 23-year-old has been an Easter Road revelation this summer, tearing up the league with his displays from the centre of the park, where he has notched up six goals and six assists in a total of 39 outings for the Hibbies.
McGinn’s influence on Neil Lennon’s side has been such that they are now breathing down the necks of Rangers in third, with just three points between the two sides.
The player, who is on a shortlist of four vying for the Player of the Season award, is rated at £5million.
And with his contract due to expire at the end of next season, it has led to interest in the maestro from Brendan Rodgers who will know Hibernian will have to cash in on McGinn now or risk losing him for nothing next year.
But ruthless and rapid moves will have to be taken by the Hoops as interest from the Premier League could put a spanner in their plans.
Peter Lawwell must personally intervene to make sure McGinn knows how much Celtic want him.
The Bhoys will need to show the player their trump card if they are going to lure him to Celtic Park rather than the big bucks of the English top-flight.
In other Celtic news, Rodgers must unleash rarely-seen Hoops player at Parkhead and win title in style.
