Celtic must sign Dembele quickly or risk losing him to Rangers - Whelan
Celtic need to make a move for Siriki Dembele or risk Rangers stealing him from under their noses.
That’s according to former Leeds and Aberdeen hitman Noel Whelan, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about an update on the Peterborough striker’s future.
Peterborough’s Director of Football, Barry Fry, recently spoke about Dembele’s options this summer.
Fry told This is Futbol he does not expect the forward to sign a new deal and “the club’s policy is that if you are in the last year of your contract and the club offers you a contract and you refuse it, we put you on the transfer list”.
Football Insider understands both Celtic and Rangers are just two of the clubs chasing the attacker this summer.
Dembele, 24, picked up 12 goals and 11 assists during Posh’s promotion-winning League One campaign.

His 18-year-old brother, Karamoko, already plays for Celtic and has seven senior appearances to his name.
Whelan claims Dembele would thrive at Celtic but warned they must move quickly to sign him.
“There’s no doubt they need new strikers in there,” Whelan told Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs.
“If you can get a player on the cheap who is a good standard and will do very well in the Scottish Premiership, it’s a no brainer.
“But they have to get a manager in there to get a deal done as quickly as possible.
“Goalscorers don’t hang around too long and god forbid you don’t want Rangers swooping in there and beating you”.
“They need to get things in place before you start buying players. The manager is the priority.
“He can bring his players, you can’t judge him if he fails with someone else’s players.”
