Celtic next manager: Jens Berthel Askou odds cut after interest update

Celtic remain on the hunt for their manager for the 2026-27 campaign, with Jens Berthel Askou continuing to be linked.

The Motherwell manager has had a stunning first season in Scotland and looks set to guide the club to Europe.

With Martin O’Neill set to depart the Hoops in the summer, Askou has been heavily linked with the role.

Now, one bookmaker has priced a summer move at 9/4, with Oddschecker on 6 May confirming that these odds have been slashed.

As a result, an ambitious Celtic appointment looks increasingly likely this summer as they aim to become the dominant team in Scotland once more.

Jens Berthel Askou ‘interested’ in Celtic role

Since the sacking of Wilfried Nancy in January, Askou has been heavily linked to the Old Firm club.

Yet, with only weeks remaining of the season, there has been little development in the hunt for a new coach.

As a result, speculation has been rife, with multiple coaches linked, including Robbie Keane and Craig Bellamy, as people attempt to predict who will come in.

On 5 May, journalist Ronnie Charters provided an update on Celtic’s managerial hunt, insisting that Askou wants to take over the Hoops in the summer.

He told The STV Radio Football Show: “I know for a fact he wants the Celtic job.

“Jens is very interested in the Celtic job.

“He would like to speak to Michael Nicholson.”

Who else is linked to the Celtic job?

Football Insider exclusively revealed that Celtic have an ambitious plan to appoint Thomas Frank this summer.

The former Tottenham Hotspur manager has been out of work since February after his reign at the club quickly went downhill.

The manager is currently an outsider to get the role at 8/1, with Frank linked to multiple other jobs ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.

Currently, the favourite is Keane at 15/8, as he continues to impress early into his coaching career.

As it stands, he is the manager of Ferencvaros, and could lift the league title this season in Hungary as well as their national cup, with the final coming up this weekend.

On top of this, Roberto Martinez and Craig Bellamy remain in the mix at 10/1 and 12/1, with neither manager being completely ruled out yet.

However, it remains to be seen who Celtic opt to appoint, with the Hoops in need of a complete overhaul in the coming months.
