Celtic next manager: Jens Berthel Askou odds tumble after Toulouse development

Celtic are continuing to hunt for their next manager for the 2026-27 campaign.

As it stands, Martin O’Neill is only set to be in charge of the Hoops for another two matches before he is set to depart at the end of the campaign.

Multiple managers have been linked to replace the 74-year-old, with Jens Berthel Askou continuously rumoured to take over.

One UK bookmaker has priced a summer switch for the Motherwell manager at 11/8, making him the favourite after his odds were slashed.

Now, Celtic could make an ambitious appointment as Askou emerges as the favourite for the job.

This is despite him only arriving in the Scottish Premiership during the summer, and he has now overseen an impressive campaign.

However, this has also caught the attention of multiple other clubs aside from Celtic, including French outfit Toulouse.

The Ligue 1 side are currently on the hunt for a new manager in the dugout with their head coach Carles Martínez Novell leaving at the end of the season.

However, BBC Sport on 13 May have reported that Motherwell have received no approach for their manager amid these rumours.

As a result, Celtic may still have time to secure Askou as their coach for the 2026-27 campaign.

Who else is linked to the Celtic job?

Former Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness has exclusively told Football Insider that Celtic should look to appoint Roberto Martinez to ease fan pressure on the board.

The current Portugal National Team manager has a stunning CV and is currently 9/2 to make the move to Celtic Park in the summer.

Robbie Keane is yet to be ruled out of the running at 7/2, while Thomas Frank and Craig Bellamy are considered outsiders at 9/1 and 8/1.

Nevertheless, it remains to be seen who Celtic opt to appoint in the summer, with the new manager expected to oversee a complete squad rebuild.
