Celtic’s number one transfer target for the foreseeable future seems to be getting Odsonne Edouard tied down on a permanent deal.
This was all but confirmed after the Bhoys denied reports on the Daily Record transfer blog (11:25am) linking them with Swansea’s Jordan Ayew.
It had been reported by the Daily Record that the Hoops had begun talks with the Ghaninan striker but that always seemed unlikely when the priority has always looked to be getting Edouard to commit to the Hoops.
The Bhoys have reportedly already begun talks with PSG about getting Edouard to sign on a permanent deal, and the Daily Mail recently reported that the Hoops were set to sign the player for £5million.
The Hoops do need to make some recruitments in the summer, particularly in the full-back areas of the pitch, where Kieran Tierney and Mikael Lustig played far too many games last season.
However, it looks like Brendan Rodgers and the Hoops board are putting all other transfer moves on the backburner for now, to concentrate on getting the Edouard deal done.
If the deal is completed, then fans will have no complaints with this strategy, as the Frenchman was highly-impressive for the Bhoys in his loan spell with the club.
The Hoops will hope to get the deal done in time for the club coming back to pre-season training next month, and the report claims a June 16 deadline, which would give Celtic plenty of time to get other deals done.
