Celtic right-back Cristian Gamboa has barely kicked a ball all season for the Scottish champions, but he has massive chance to prove his worth to the club on Friday.
Gamboa, 28, could have his Parkhead future decided this week when Costa Rica play against Scotland at Hampden Park.
With plenty of Celtic players in the Tartan Army side, there’s every chance that Brendan Rodgers will be keeping a very close eye on the international friendly to see how his men get on.
One of the most interesting things to watch out for will be the performance of Gamboa and how he will get on against the likes of James Forrest – if the duo were to play.
A brilliant performance by the former West Brom right-back could mean that Rodgers will give him a chance in the first-team over the coming weeks with Mikael Lustig’s form hitting a new low and Anthony Ralston unavailable because he has been loaned out to Dundee United.
Gamboa has been very much an outcast all season with just three appearances in all competitions.
His display against Bayern Munich in the Champions League in October was as bad as it gets as the 62-times Costa Rica international got absolutely torn to shreds by the German behemoth.
Since that night, he has played just one game, but there could be salvation for him this week with a strong outing against Scotland.
It was after all his Costa Rica displays that earned him a transfer to England when West Brom signed him off the back of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
He will be hoping that he can perform out of his skin yet again for his nation against the Scots to save his British football career.
