Celtic are preparing a £1million-plus bid for “phenomenal” Exeter City attacker Joel Randall, Football Insider understands.
The Scottish giants are looking to reinforce their attacking options this month amid a wretched campaign that leaves their 10-in-a-row tilt hanging by a thread.
A Celtic source has told Football Insider that Randall is firmly on their radar and they are set to submit a seven-figure offer for him in this window.
The Hoops have been keeping close tab on the 21-year-old this season and are convinced he has the talent and aptitude to play at a higher level.
Randall, who is predominantly a left-sided attacker but can operate on both flanks, has scored eight goals and provided five assists for Exeter from 24 matches this season.
In recent matches he has been used on the right flank by the League Two side.
That has been a problem position for Celtic this season after losing James Forrest to an injury that required surgery in early November.
Randall is a product of the same Exeter City academy that has produced Ollie Watkins and Ethan Ampadu in recent years.
He has been at the club since he was 11 and had five loan spells in non-League by the age of 20.
Exeter manager Matt Taylor has hailed the talent of Randall and claimed “he’s been a standout player” this season with “phenomenal running stats”.
Randall has 18 months remaining on his contract at the English fourth-tier side.
