Celtic tipped for double signing boost after source's 'big' Hart update - Whelan
Noel Whelan has claimed Celtic could solve both their goalkeeping and defensive problems by signing Joe Hart from Tottenham.
The former Aberdeen striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested the 34-year-old would help the defenders at Parkhead improve thanks to his leadership and experience.
As revealed by Football Insider on Saturday (July 31st), Hart is willing to take a pay cut as a Celtic source revealed the extent of his desire to make a move to the club happen.
Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano reported on Thursday (July 29th) talks are progressing and an agreement is close.
The Spurs shot-stopper is into the final year of his contract in north London.
Celtic currently have Scott Bain and Vasilis Barkas as their goalkeeping otpions.

Whelan suggested Hart would not only be an upgradebetween the sticks but improve those in front of him too.
“He’s got the experience and he’s still got that passion and fire in his belly for football,” Whelan told Football Insider’s Russell Edge.
“You’ve done it with Fraser Forster, getting an experienced goalkeeper. Lots of goalkeepers can go into their late 30s and still play at the highest level.
“He’s still got a lot to give and I think it would be a great signing. Right now, they’re struggling with their goalkeepers at Celtic. They need somebody in there that talks to the backline, someone that’s a leader as well.
“Not just a goalkeeper there but a presence in between the sticks. He certainly is, he’s a big, big guy. He will talk, he will demand and he will make people better in front of him.
“Someone who is going to pull people around at the back to do their jobs properly.
“I think that’s what Celtic need right now.
“They need to bring somebody in that can be a leader on the training ground, in the changing room and on the field. That’s vitally important.”
