Celtic tipped to agree Ange Postecoglou deal after journalist's update - expert

Alan Hutton has told Celtic to tie down Ange Postecoglou on a long-term deal.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Rangers right-back said Postecoglou’s work at the club so far has been “remarkable”.

According to journalist Douglas Alexander, reported in the Sunday Times (11 September), the Australian is “still a strong contender” to become the new Brighton boss after Graham Potter left to join Chelsea.

The Seagulls are said to have been impressed by what they have seen from the 57-year-old so far.

According to the Telegraph, reported in the Metro (10 September), the former Australia national team boss doesn’t want to “abandon” the project he has started at Parkhead.

Postecoglou is believed to be on a one-year rolling contract with the Glasgow club.

Hutton has claimed the Celtic hierarchy should use this opportunity to tie Postecoglou down on a long-term deal.

If I was the hierarchy at Celtic I’d want to tie him down for a long time,” Hutton told Football Insider correspondent Charlotte Cohen.

What he’s done since he’s come through the door at the club is quite remarkable to be quite honest.”

Not just the turnaround in playing staff but the playing style and everybody has bought into that. Some of the football they have played is incredible.

Not just the Old Firm game but against Real Madrid, the European champions, they played the exact same way and they were unlucky they just ran out of a bit of steam.

If it was me, I would definitely want to tie him down. I can understand why teams like Brighton are looking at him because he’s done a remarkable job since he’s come in to Celtic.

In other news, McAvennie has been amazed by ‘incomprehensible’ Celtic after what he has seen.
