Celtic tipped to hand Ralston new contract after 'massive turnaround' - pundit
Alan Hutton has tipped Celtic to offer Anthony Ralston a new contract after his “massive turnaround” at Parkhead.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Scotland defender insisted the 22-year-old had been “excellent” despite appearing to be a “stopgap” option for Ange Postecoglou.
Ralston’s current contract, signed back in 2017, is set to expire at the end of the season.
The Scottish Sun claim the Hoops actually triggered an extension clause this summer to keep him tied down until 2022.
Ralston was firmly out of favour last season.
However, has been Postecoglou’s first-choice right-back this season, even with the arrival of Josip Juranovic.

The Croatia star was pushed to left-back for his debut against Rangers.
Hutton suggested Celtic would now look at tying Ralston down for the long term after his bright start to the campaign.
Asked if he thought Celtic would offer Ralston a new deal soon, Hutton told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “Performance-wise, if it goes solely on that, of course he deserves another one.
“There was a lot of pressure on him. It looked like Celtic were desperate to bring in a right-back. He was possibly the stopgap until that happened, but he’s taken that challenge on.
“He’s moved forward, he’s relished the challenge and he’s played excellent. Why would you not give him a new deal? I think they will.
“You’ve got him, Juranovic there who’s going to battle it out for right-back. It’s great competition to have.
“A Croatia international and Ralston, a player who’s really had a massive turnaround in form. He’s taken it on to go and nail that spot down, which he has done for me.
“I think he’s definitely worth a new deal.”
