Celtic are still searching for their next permanent appointment, and a recently sacked boss has been tipped to take charge of the club.

Brendan Rodgers resigned as Celtic boss before club owner Dermot Desmond launched a scathing attack on the 52-year-old.

Martin O'Neill has taken charge on an interim basis and oversaw Celtic's 3-1 win over Rangers which secured the Hoops' passage to the Scottish League Cup final against St Mirren.

Kieran McKenna is a leading contender for the Celtic job, whilst Ange Postecoglou may return for a second spell, as the Hoops weigh up their options.

Will Still tipped for Celtic job

Championship Southampton have sacked manager Will Still after 13 matches, with the Saints 21st in the table.

Still had enjoyed success in France as manager of Reims and Lens, but his first managerial appointment in England did not work out.

Hugh Woozencroft, posting on X [2nd November] does not believe his time at St Mary's should put clubs off, with Celtic tipped to make a move.

"Will Still will make a very good manager at Championship level. Yes, there were undoubted poor performances but there were also some very good ones, where, had Saints taken their chances - it would have at least given him more time," Woozencroft said.

"If I'm Celtic, I'm on the phone in the morning."

Could Martin O'Neill stay at Celtic?

Speaking after Celtic's success over Rangers, O'Neill said he would "love to" lead the Hoops out as manager for the final.

O'Neill has won both his games in charge so far and is adored by the support for his first spell in charge of the club.

Celtic's more direct approach under O'Neill has worked so far, and the 73-year-old looks to be getting the best out of key stars.
