Celtic are prepared to allow first-team midfielder Stuart Armstrong to depart this summer, according to a report.
The Daily Record claims that the Bhoys will start a bidding war for the 26-year-old after deciding they will listen to offers for him, with just one year remaining on his current contract
It is understood that the English quartet of Brighton, Crystal Palace, Southampton and West Brom are in the race for his signature.
Football Insider verdict:
Celtic have enough in their squad to allow Armstrong’s exit without it damaging them too much and his form in the 2017/18 campaign failed to match the standards he set the previous year. The versatile midfielder has played an important role during the club’s double treble success and for that will go down a Parkhead legend. However, with his deal entering its final year cashing in on his signature may not be the worst idea. There is widespread interest in the six-time capped Scotland international and they should be able to force his valuation up amid interest. He is a goalscoring midfielder that has proven himself to be a well balanced midfielder for Celtic and it will be interesting to see if he can cut it in the Premier League. Manager Brendan Rodgers could perhaps do with a slight overhaul of his squad to get them remotivated for next year and ultimately the aim has to be to improve in European competitions.
