Celtic told to exploit Derby plight after Buchanan transfer mission reported - pundit
Celtic can take advantage of the plight of Derby County and sign Lee Buchanan for a knockdown fee in January.
So says ex-Premier League shot-stopper Paul Robinson, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the 20-year-old left-back rising star.
Buchanan, whose contract runs until the end of the season, has been a mainstay at Pride Park since he established himself in 2019-20.
The Sun reported on 24 October that the Hoops despatched top scout Mick Doherty to watch Buchanan last week with a view to a January swoop.
Ange Postecoglou is yet to settle on a first-choice left-back this term and has used five players in the role.
Derby meanwhile are rooted to the foot of the Championship table after being hit with a 12-point deduction for entering administration last month.
And Robinson argues that Celtic can profit from the Rams' turmoil and lure the talented Buchanan north of the border.
He told Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs: "There aren't a lot of assets at Derby County when you look at that club.
"The players that are there, the contracts that they're on and the ages that they're at, it's not too promising.
"Whoever ends up buying that club is not going to have a lot of top assets to trade with. Celtic can use that to their advantage.
"If the administrators look to move some players on, he is certainly one of them who will command a decent transfer fee."
