Celtic would be well served by reigniting their interest in Lazio's Gustav Isaksen after his impressive performance on the international stage.

The Hoops added several new faces to Martin O'Neill's attacking ranks over the summer window.

Few are yet to truly impress, especially out wide, with the club believed to be in the market for new wingers ahead of January.

Lazio star Isaksen was closely linked to Parkhead over the summer, but he stayed put at the Italian capital club.

The 25-year-old's latest outing for Denmark proves that the Hoops should be prioritising his signature if they wish to make improvements in the final third.

Isaksen has produced two standout performances against Wales in the Nations League but could be available in the new year as he struggles for regular starts at Lazio.

Gustav Isaksen was key to another Denmark win over Wales

Isaksen, who is primarily a right-winger, registered five goals and one assist in 35 appearances for Lazio last term.

He started in just one of their first five league games this season, but has returned to form over the latest round of international fixtures.

The 25-year-old scored against Wales on 27 September, then shone in the reverse fixture in Cardiff on Sunday evening.

Isaksen won the penalty that led to Rasmus Hojlund's winner from the spot, while he had the joint-most shots (5) and had more touches in the opposition box (10) than any other player.

He also created two other chances, completed each of his three attempted crosses, won the second-most ground duels (6) of any player on the pitch and drew more fouls (5) than anyone else too.

It was a top performance against Wales' Premier League left flank of Jay Dasilva and Sorba Thomas, with Isaksen clearly good enough to make a real impact at Celtic.

The Serie A may well be slightly above his level, but the Hoops should be back in for the 25-year-old as he has the potential to be a key man in their pursuit of more success this season.

Danish media have praised Isaksen after Wales win

Isaksen has emerged as a key man for his country over the last 12 months, with four goals in his last eight Denmark appearances in 2026.

His stats against Wales paint the picture of a player in real form, which Danish outlet Tipsbladet agreed with after the game.

They wrote: "Gustav Isaksen is establishing himself as Denmark’s most important attacking player. Constantly posing a threat and creating a great deal with the ball at his feet, he came close to scoring with a fine header and won a crucial penalty.

"He is harder to replace than Rasmus Hojlund and is Denmark’s biggest star in the national team right now."
