Celtic could land £4m+ payout as prize money revealed ahead of Scottish Premiership title decider vs Hearts
Celtic are in line to earn more than £4million in prize money if they can overcome Hearts in the Scottish Premiership title decider.
The Glasgow giants head into the clash one point behind the league leaders after claiming a dramatic 3-2 victory over Motherwell on Wednesday (13 May).
Martin O’Neill’s side were awarded a controversial last-minute penalty for an alleged handball by Sam Nicholson, with Kelechi Iheanacho slotting home from the spot at Fir Park.
Meanwhile, Hearts secured a 3-0 victory over Falkirk at Tynecastle to maintain their lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership table.
Celtic will now host Hearts in the season finale at Parkhead on Saturday (16 May), with significant prize money at stake alongside the top-flight title.
How much Celtic and Hearts would earn from winning Scottish Premiership
Hearts are looking to be crowned Scottish champions for the first time in 66 years, having led the way for the majority of this season.
It would be the first time any club outside of the Old Firm has claimed the title since Sir Alex Ferguson led Aberdeen to glory in 1985.

Scotland’s Coefficient previously reported just under £29m is expected to be shared among the Scottish Premiership clubs this season, with the champions in line to receive £4.7m of the prize pot.
A second-place finish will be worth £3.4m, while Rangers are set to bank £2.9m after it’s been confirmed they will end the campaign in third spot.
Why Celtic's prize money has dropped significantly this season
Celtic landed £43m in prize money last season after being crowned champions for the fourth year in a row and reaching the Champions League knock-out round play-offs.
However, their earnings have dropped substantially this season after failing to qualify for the league phase of European football’s elite club competition.
Celtic banked £15.3m from their European exploits before suffering defeat to Stuttgart in the Europa League knock-out round play-offs earlier this year.
Meanwhile, the Hoops received £320,000 for finishing as runners-up in the Scottish League Cup, having suffered a 3-1 defeat to St Mirren at Hampden Park in December.
O’Neill’s side have reached the Scottish Cup final, where they could earn £488k with a victory over Dunfermline Athletic at the national stadium on 23 May.
That could potentially take their overall prize money for the campaign to around £20.8m if they can overcome Hearts to claim the Scottish Premiership title this weekend.
