Celtic blasted after latest Scotland evidence: 'Another masterpiece from the board'
Celtic continue to be made to look silly by their decision to allow centre-back Stephen Welsh to leave on a free transfer in the summer.
The defender had found opportunities at Parkhead hard to come by in recent years, and made just two competitive appearances for the Bhoys last season before he was loaned out to Motherwell.
There, he starred in Jens Berthel Askou's side's improbable run to European qualification, which even had people suggesting they were in the race for the league title at one stage.
This season, Welsh has taken his game to new heights once again after joining Swansea City, and has even forced his way into the Scotland setup for the first time.
He has started all three games for his country so far in this international break, and played a key role in the 2-0 win away in North Macedonia last weekend.
Welsh won 67 per cent of his duels and completed 93 per cent of his passes in Skopje, and his performance was enough to leave Celtic fans raging on social media.
Stephen Welsh 'never got a chance' at Celtic
The Scotland team have had plenty of eyes on them as they transition into the Sebastien Pocognoli era, and Welsh has been one of the stars of the show so far.
The 26-year-old has received plenty of plaudits for his defending and his composure on the ball, but it has left something of a bitter taste for those of a Celtic persuasion.
Martin O'Neill's team have lacked depth at centre-back in recent weeks, and supporters on X have wasted no time in pointing out what they have lost in Welsh.
One fan simply labelled the decision to let him leave for free as "typical Celtic," while another branded it as "another masterpiece from the board."
It was also pointed out that Welsh never truly "got a chance" at Celtic Park, while another fan noted that he is "exactly what they need" right now.
It was also suggested that Welsh was the "obvious choice" for Scotland during their World Cup campaign in the summer, while another fan praised him for being brave enough to leave Celtic.
Celtic board have created 'very big political issue'
Former Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness recently told Football Insider that the Celtic board have created another "very big political issue" for themselves with the Oasis tour at Celtic Park.
The club hierarchy have been under sustained pressure from the supporters, who have grown tired of the club not reaching its full potential.
Wyness pointed out that the board have made a rod for their own back with the scheduling of the Oasis gigs, with one of the five nights hosted at Celtic Park clashing with the 60th anniversary of the Lisbon Lions.
The iconic Celtic side became the first ever British club to lift the European Cup back in 1967, and fans already feel aggrieved that they will not be celebrated properly.
