Celtic should axe big-money signing vs Rangers, Martin O'Neill has no choice
Martin O'Neill is currently gearing up his Celtic side for the first Old Firm Derby of the 2026-27 campaign on Sunday.
The Bhoys have enjoyed a perfect start to the new Scottish Premiership season, but are now about to meet a likely title contender for the first time.
However, things have been far from easy for O'Neill's men so far, with an embarrassing defeat to LASK in Champions League qualifying followed by nervy wins over St Mirren and St Johnstone in recent weeks.
They are set to make the trip across Glasgow to meet a Rangers side that have now won their last four league games, with three of those victories coming with a clean sheet.
Derek McInnes' men are finally beginning to build momentum after a challenging start to their campaign, and with that in mind, the time is right for O'Neill to make a brave selection call on Sunday.
Kasper Hogh should be dropped vs Rangers
Kasper Hogh will naturally have plenty of attention on him at Celtic this season, after they shelled out a club-record fee of £11million to sign him from Bodo/Glimt.
The 25-year-old striker hit a hat-trick in his second game when the Bhoys beat Kilmarnock back in August, but he has since gone goalless in his last four games in all competitions.
On the other side of the coin, Colombian forward Camilo Duran has enjoyed an electric start to his Celtic career, with six goals and three assists in his opening nine games.
Duran's form has caught the eye in Scotland already, and his tally of six goals already includes some truly impressive strikes.
O'Neill left the former Qarabag man on the bench last week and opted to start Hogh as the lone striker, but it would surely be wise for him to reverse those roles against Rangers.
Old Firm Derbies are frequently settled on fine margins within games, and as a result, it is surely better for the boss to hand the start to his most confident striker at the moment.
Duran has stepped up for Celtic when it has mattered so far this season, and they will hope that he can do the same again and produce a big moment on Sunday.
Keith Wyness reacts to Old Firm away fans ban
This weekend's Old Firm clash will see Celtic's away fans absent from Ibrox, after the SFA recently moved to ban visiting supporters from every fixture between the two clubs for the rest of the season.
Former Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness told Football Insider earlier this week that he fully agrees with the decision, which came as a result of the violent scenes after last season's Scottish Cup clash.
Wyness outlined that the fixture has become "too volatile" to consider significant away allocations, and now believes that the full ban is the right course of action.
He also fell in line with the SFA's hope that this can provide the turning point for the allocations to improve again in future.
