Scottish Premiership title: Supercomputer predicts winner out of Rangers, Celtic and Hearts
The Hoops won the trophy for the fifth consecutive season last campaign after a captivating final day clash against the Jambos.
Now, Martin O’Neill will be looking to repeat this feat again as Celtic look to get their hands on a record 57th Scottish Premiership title.
However, Rangers will be hopeful of ending the campaign at the summit for the first time since 2021, with new manager Derek McInnes overseeing a squad overhaul this summer.
Nevertheless, going into the opening day, the Hoops are the overwhelming favourites to win the title.
Celtic have dominated Scottish football in recent years, and the supercomputer expects this hegemony to continue.
Celtic have a 55.36% chance of winning Scottish Premiership title
Celtic’s title win last season was far from pretty, but it was no doubt memorable.
A 3-1 victory over Hearts secured the trophy on the final day, despite spending the majority of the season in second.
With O’Neill deciding to stay on as the manager, Opta believe Celtic has a 55.36 per cent chance of retaining their title during the 2026-27 campaign.
This is double the percentage of any other side in the top-flight, with Rangers’ chances rated at 26.35 per cent.
Hearts, who spent the majority of last season top of the table, are viewed to have an 11.86 per cent chance of winning the title.
Is the Scottish Premiership title Celtic’s to lose this season?
On the face of it, it is easy to see why Celtic are the favourites.
The Hoops would have likely run away with the league if Wilfried Nancy had not been appointed in December, in what proved to be a disastrous spell.
Given O’Neill’s experience in winning trophies, and the fact that he has had a full pre-season, it will give Celtic a big boost.
However, the transfer window is still underway, and plenty of the Hoops’ big stars could still leave.
On top of this, Rangers have made some solid signings throughout the summer, including new captain Lawrence Shankland, and they will no doubt back themselves to win the league title.
However, it remains to be seen who will come out on top this season, with plenty of twists and turns expected.
