Celtic manager news: Everything you need to know about Bruno Lage after Parkhead links
Celtic have been linked with a surprise move for Bruno Lage ahead of the summer.
The Hoops are on the hunt for Martin O’Neill’s successor, with the interim manager set to depart at the end of the season.
Multiple coaches have been linked to the role, with Lage now emerging as one of the favourites.
For many in Glasgow, the name will be largely unknown, with the 49-year-old only ever having had one job inside the UK.

Who is Bruno Lage?
Lage is a 49-year-old manager who has taken charge of four clubs so far in his career.
Starting off at Benfica B back in 2018, he rose to become the first-team manager of the Portuguese giants.

He then took on Wolverhampton Wanderers and Botafogo, before returning to Benfica in 2024.
His first spell at Benfica was largely successful. Between 2019 and 2020, he won one Primeira Liga title and a Supertaca Candido de Oliveira.
Lage is also credited with developing Joao Felix, who went on to make a £113million move to Atletico Madrid under his reign.
After results turned sour, he was dismissed and went to Wolves in 2021. Here, he oversaw an excellent start, with the Old Gold side even competing for Champions League football.
However, after the club failed to back him in the winter window, results worsened, and his inability to return Wolves to form eventually cost him his job in 2022.
Nevertheless, he still has the third-highest win rate of any Wolves Premier League manager at 34.8%
After a brief failed spell at Botafogo, he returned to Benfica in 2024. In the 2024-25 campaign, he only narrowly missed out on the title by two points, but did manage to win the Taca da Liga.
However, after a terrible start to their Champions League campaign, he was dismissed in 2025, despite winning the Supertaca Candido de Oliveira months prior.
Who else could take over at Celtic?
Football Insider exclusively revealed that Jens Berthel Askou is “high”on Celtic’s shortlist.
The Motherwell manager has impressed this season, with the club currently sitting fourth in the table.
Askou has masterminded plenty of impressive victories this campaign, including one over Celtic earlier this season.
However, it remains to be seen who the Hoops decide to bring in as they look to become the dominant power in Scotland once again.
