Celtic remain on the hunt for their manager for the 2026-27 campaign ahead of Martin O’Neill’s expected departure.

The Hoops have been linked with a wealth of coaches since Wilfried Nancy’s sacking in January, but perhaps no one more than Jens Berthel Askou.

The Motherwell boss has shone in his first campaign in the Scottish Premiership, and looks set to guide the club to Europe.

As a result, Celtic have taken notice, and he is just 3/1 to make a summer move, with Oddschecker on 1 May confirming that these odds have been slashed.

This comes days after Askou boosted Celtic’s title hopes by beating Rangers 3-2 on the weekend.

Jens Berthel Askou is starting to attract interest elsewhere

Askou’s feats in Scotland have not just been noticed by Celtic.

In recent months, the manager has been linked with a wealth of jobs, on top of the Hoops gig.

Askou has heavily impressed at Motherwell

Before AFC Bournemouth confirmed the appointment of Marco Rose, Askou was one of the bookies favourites to take over at the South Coast club.

On top of this, Copenhagen have also reportedly taken an interest, with the 43-year-old previously working at the Danish side as the assistant manager.

With move vacancies popping up by the day, it is inevitable that Askou will be linked to another job sooner rather than later, especially as he continues to pick up some impressive victories.

Therefore, if Celtic want to make the appointment, they may have to speed up their process.

Who else is in the running for the Celtic job?

Football Insider has exclusively revealed that Roberto Martinez could be convinced to take over Celtic if a sizeable contract is offered.

The Portugal National Team manager has also been heavily linked since Nancy’s sacking and is currently the fourth favourite at 5/1 according to one bookmaker.

As it stands, Robbie Keane is the favourite at 6/4 in what could be a controversial return for the former Hoops striker.

Thomas Frank also remains in the mix, in what would be an ambitious move for Celtic at 4/1.

Craig Bellamy remains an outsider at 7/1. However, it remains to be seen who Celtic opt to appoint in the summer, with it arguably being one of the biggest decisions in the club’s recent history.
