Callum Osmand is keen to stay at Celtic and fight for his place in Martin O’Neill’s starting eleven despite interest from West Ham, sources have told Football Insider.

Osmand capped up a troublesome debut season at Celtic with the third goal in their Premiership-winning clash against Hearts last month.

It was only his second senior strike for the club following a campaign of injury troubles and a lack of a route to the first team.

O’Neill placed his trust in the 20-year-old when it mattered most, however, and is set to include him in his first team plans now that he has returned as the Hoops’ new permanent boss.

As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider's Transfer Insider podcast, Osmand wants to stay at Parkhead even though Championship side West Ham are reportedly keen on his services.

The Hammers are believed to have Osmand on their radar as Nuno Espirito Santo overhauls his squad after relegation from the Premier League.

He seems likely to snub their interest in favour of pushing for more game time at Celtic next season, especially with several forward departures likely on the horizon.

Callum Osmand and Celtic are on the same page despite West Ham interest

Osmand only managed to make four senior appearances in 2025-26 after suffering a severe hamstring injury in November, but will expect to be handed more chances next season.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: “I'm sure for Osmand himself, after all his injury problems last year, he just wants to focus on a strong pre-season and he'll be hoping that he can play his way into the Celtic attack right now as well.

“I don't think they can afford to let Osmand go, but West Ham are admirers of the player and were interested in him during his time at Fulham, so the interest doesn't surprise me.

“I can't imagine Celtic will be willing to let Osmand leave anytime soon and they'll be counting on him for next season.”

Celtic ready to accept Reo Hatate offer amid 'best opportunity' to cash in

Celtic ready to sell Reo Hatate after his tough end to the season

While Osmand is set to stay at Parkhead, Japan midfielder Hatate is nearing the exit door following some struggles under O’Neill.

He failed to start a post-split Premiership game for Celtic at the end of 2025-26, and wasn't even in the matchday squad for the title decider against Hearts or their Scottish Cup Final victory.

Sources have exclusively revealed to Football Insider that Celtic are keen to cash in on Hatate this summer as a result of his struggles.

They view the coming few months as the ideal time to let him leave with two years left on his contract, and the 28-year-old is open to the idea of departing.
