Celtic ‘expected’ to submit improved Haissem Hassan offer - journalist
Celtic are reportedly expected to submit a £6.8million bid for World Cup sensation Haissem Hassan over the coming weeks.
The Hoops have been heavily linked to the 24-year-old winger in recent weeks after his stellar performance for Egypt in the World Cup.
Celtic had seen a £3.41m bid turned down by Real Oviedo for the attacker last week as Martin O'Neill looks to reinforce his front line.
However, reports now suggest that the Old Firm outfit are set to double their bid to secure the signing of Hassan.
The winger made headlines this week thanks to his performance against Argentina, where he picked up an assist in a 3-2 defeat.
Hassan had been part of the Real Oviedo side that were relegated to La Liga 2 last season, but could soon find himself in the Scottish Premiership for the 2026-27 campaign.
Celtic look to secure deal for Haissem Hassan
Celtic’s lack of depth up top has been a growing issue at the club, especially when goals were tough to come by last season.
Yang Hyun-jun proved to be the only consistent winger up top in the 2025-26 campaign, and even he failed to rack up a decent assist total in the Scottish Premiership.
Therefore, it is clear that O’Neill wants to bring in Hassan to solve this issue, and Celtic look set to test Real Oviedo’s resolve again.
According to Christian Vaquero via X, the Hoops are expected to place a £6.8m bid for the winger in hopes of securing the deal.
However, it remains to be seen if Real Oviedo accepts this bid, or will insist on a higher offer.
Who else are Celtic linked with?
In recent days, Celtic have also been linked with a move for Mory Gbane.
The Reims midfielder had a successful 2025-26 campaign in Ligue 2, and the Hoops are reportedly ready to make a move for the Ivory Coast interest.
Celtic are not alone in their interest, with West Ham United and Trabzonspor also chasing the 25-year-old this summer transfer window.
Reims are not opposed to a sale, which has boosted the chances of the Old Firm side getting a deal over the line.
However, it remains to be seen who Celtic will bring into the club over the coming weeks.
