Celtic eye perfect Kasper Schmeichel upgrade as 27-year-old shortlisted - view
Celtic are in need of a goalkeeper this summer and now have their eye on Las Palmas star Dinko Horkas.
Scouts have been watching the 27-year-old after an impressive campaign in Segunda Division, as the Spanish side failed to win promotion.
Overall, he picked up 14 clean sheets in the Spanish second tier, which has led to the Hoops adding him to their shortlist.
After Kasper Schmeichel’s departure from Parkhead at the end of the season, the club have been chasing a new goalkeeper.
Many of Horkas’ stats indicate that he could be an excellent addition to Celtic if they can get a transfer over the line.
The Hoops currently have just one first-team keeper on the books in Viljami Sinisalo.
Dinko Horkas’ stats are far superior to Kasper Schmeichel’s
Despite Las Palmas’ failure to win promotion back into La Liga, Horkas still had an excellent campaign.
This is shown through his many stats, with the former Under-21 Croatian international having a great campaign.
According to Fotmob on 1 July, Horkas averaged 0.96 goals conceded, 0.32 clean sheets, 0.09 goals prevented, a 72.1 save percentage and 0.05 errors that led to goals per game in the Spanish second tier.
In comparison, Schmeichel averaged 1.00 goals conceded, 0.46 clean sheets, -0.11 goals prevented, a 69.8 save percentage and 0.04 errors that led to goals per game in the Scottish Premiership.
Given how many stats are superior to Schmeichel’s, Horkas could be the perfect upgrade on the former Denmark international.
However, it remains to be seen if The Celtic Way’s report comes to anything over the next couple of months.
Which other goalkeepers are Celtic linked to?
Football Insider has exclusively revealed that Celtic are keen to sign Nikolas Polster this summer transfer window.
The Wolfsberger goalkeeper is interested in a potential move to Parkhead after impressing in the Austrian division.
The 23-year-old is reportedly available for £1.75million, which could be an affordable price tag for Celtic.
The youngster has kept eight clean sheets in the Austrian Bundesliga last term, with Wolves also showing interest.
However, with so many goalkeepers linked to the Hoops in recent months, it remains to be seen who they will make an official move for ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.
