Celtic will now compete to secure the permanent move of Marcelo Saracchi this summer transfer window after Corum FK joined the race for his signature.

The Hoops have been keen on making the left-back’s stay at Parkhead a permanent one after a successful loan spell at the club this season.

His parent club, Boca Juniors need to sell as they look to free up a foreign player spot in their registration.

Reports have now emerged that Corum FK are interested in the full-back this summer, which could see the Uruguay international return to Turkey.

Celtic have been waiting to kick off their transfer business until their manager for the 2026-27 campaign was appointed.

Now, this could see them miss out on Saracchi, who made 19 appearances in the Scottish Premiership this season as the club won a domestic double.

Celtic must step up their interest in Marcelo Saracchi

Now that Martin O’Neill is set to be appointed as Celtic’s manager for next season, the club has no excuse not to step up their interest in Saracchi.

The manager clearly has a good relationship with the full-back and praised him for his impact during the 3-1 victory over Hearts on the final day.

As a result, Celtic will not find a better full-back than Saracchi to be a back-up for Kieran Tierney over the coming season.

The interest from Corum FK should therefore act as a catalyst to ensure that a deal is quickly sorted before the Hoops miss out.

If not, Celtic risk losing out on a player who can clearly perform in the Scottish Premiership to a good standard, and will not kick up a fuss about being a back-up.

Will Saracchi be at the 2026 World Cup?

Unfortunately for Saracchi, he has not made the Uruguay squad for the 2026 World Cup.

The full-back was not taken by Marcelo Bielsa for the upcoming tournament despite his late-season form for the Hoops.

However, this could work to Celtic’s benefit as they can potentially negotiate a deal without any distractions.

Nevertheless, it remains to be seen if the Hoops make an offer for Saracchi, or if they simply move on to other targets this summer transfer window.
