Celtic ‘particularly fond’ of Tairyk Arconte as they battle Millwall to agree deal
Celtic are reportedly aiming to bring in rising star Tairyk Arconte this transfer window to end their attacking woes.
The Hoops are believed to be particularly fond of the 22-year-old Rodez striker after they failed to win promotion to Ligue 1 via the playoffs.
The Guadeloupe international had a sensational 2025-26 campaign as he netted 14 league goals, leaving him as the fifth top scorer in the division.
Martin O’Neill was without a natural striker for the majority of this season, and he will hope that Arconte can solve this issue if the club can complete the signing.
Only two Celtic players hit double-figure goals in the Scottish Premiership this season, as the club’s frontline struggled.
Celtic look to win race for Tairyk Arconte
Celtic are not the only side that is battling to win Arconte’s signature this summer transfer window.
Both Millwall and AJ Auxerre are reportedly interested in the striker after his sensational campaign.
Foot Mercato on 5 June has reported that the transfer saga around Arconte is only just beginning, meaning that Celtic may face a battle across the summer window to secure the signing.
However, with his contract expiring in June 2028, Rodez may feel pressured to sell the attacker, especially while his stock is high.
Nevertheless, it remains to be seen who will win the race for Arconte after he established himself as one of the most promising strikers in the second tier of French football.
Who else are Celtic looking to sign?
Football Insider has exclusively revealed that Celtic are also chasing Kasper Hogh this summer transfer window.
The Bodo/Glimt striker rose to fame earlier this season when he netted five goals in five successive Champions League appearances to help fire the club to an unprecedented place in the round of 16.
Celtic face significant competition for the striker after previously failing with an approach in the winter transfer window.
Bodo also plan to keep hold of him, which is likely to damage Celtic’s hopes of getting a deal done.
Nevertheless, Celtic’s qualification for the Champions League playoffs could help the club bring in the upcoming star as they look to finally end their woes up top this summer.
