Celtic must sign Elliot Watt this summer to be part of their new-look midfield in the 2026-27 campaign.

The Motherwell central midfielder has been linked with a number of clubs this summer after a wonderful campaign at Motherwell.

It has now been reported that a bid of £1.75million will be enough to bring the Steelmen to the table after they rejected two bids from Samsunspor.

The Turkish club are expected to go back in for the former Scotland youth international, and Celtic should now also look to put in a bid.

The Hoops had been credited with interest in May, and his price tag makes him a gamble worth taking.

Multiple midfielders have been linked with a Celtic exit this summer, and Watt could prove to be a perfect addition to replace any outgoing stars.

Watt was one of the standout players in the Scottish Premiership last season.

The midfielder netted six times and picked up three assists as the Steelmen finished fourth and qualified for Europe.

Bringing in a player of that quality and in that form into Celtic for less than £2m would be a steal, and the club have no excuse for this not to happen.

With players such as Arne Engels and Reo Hatate being linked elsewhere, Watt could be a solid replacement, if the Daily Record's reported fee is corret.

However, it remains to be seen if Celtic will make a move for the Motherwell star over the coming weeks.

Who else are Celtic linked to?

Previously, Celtic have also been heavily linked to Alfie Devine.

The Tottenham Hotspur midfielder had a highly successful loan spell at Preston North End last season, which helped attract the interest of the Hoops.

Reports have indicated that Devine could be available for a deal worth £6m this summer as Celtic search for a new midfielder.

Preston still have the option to bring in the 21-year-old thanks to an option in the deal, but if this deadline passes, it could open the door to the Old Firm side to complete the signing.

Nevertheless, it remains to be seen who the Hoops will bring into the club over the coming weeks as they look to retain the Scottish Premiership title.
