Celtic submitting £6.8m Haissem Hassan 'offer' as contract details emerge - journalist
Celtic are preparing to submit a bid between £6million and £6.8m for World Cup star Haissem Hassan.
It has been reported that the Hoops have been in contract talks with the Real Oviedo winger over a potential four-year deal at the Hoops.
The Spanish outfit are insisting on £10.2m for the 24-year-old this summer, but are open to negotiating this fee.
Celtic had previously seen a bid of £3.4m turned down last week as Martin O’Neill looks to reinforce his front line.
Hassan had an impressive 2026 World Cup and put in a star performance for Egypt during their 3-2 defeat to Argentina.
This came after a tricky 2025-26 campaign with Real Oviedo, as the club were relegated from La Liga.
Celtic look to secure Haissem Hassan signing
Hassan has emerged as a key Celtic target in recent weeks.
The Hoops are in need of reinforcements for their front line amid reports that Daizen Maeda could leave the club this summer.
Therefore, Christian Vaquero’s report that Celtic are preparing a bid shows that Celtic are now accelerating their interest in the attacker.
This will come as little surprise after the Argentina game, where the winger was one of the best players on the pitch and picked up an assist for his troubles.
However, it remains to be seen if the club will see this offer accepted by the Spanish outfit, or if the Hoops will have to go in with another bid.
Is there a chance that Real Oviedo will accept Celtic’s offer?
Football Insider has exclusively revealed that Celtic are confident of securing the signing of Hassan for less than £10m.
Oviedo will likely be forced to sell Hassan to the highest bidder as he has just entered the final year of his contract, which expires in June 2027.
As a result, Celtic may believe that a £6.8m offer may be enough to secure his services ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.
Due to his contract situation, Oviedo are likely to sell the star, and not risk him leaving on a free transfer next summer.
However, with plenty of twists and turns remaining in the transfer window, Celtic will be hopeful of securing a deal before another club attempts to highjack the signing.
