Celtic tipped for 'three more' signings after Kasper Hogh deal - 'well done for getting it done'
Celtic need at least three more top-quality signings if they truly want to progress their squad before the end of the summer transfer window.
That is according to former Aberdeen cheif executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, who believes that the Bhoys' supporters are still "begging" for more investment from the board.
The club recently sealed an £11million move to make Bodo/Glimt striker Kasper Hogh their second summer signing, but only after they let Daizen Maeda join Ipswich.
The Glasgow giants netted £10m through the sale of Maeda, and Wyness is adamant that the windfall from that deal is the only reason why they moved for Hogh.
He stressed that the fans will undoubtedly have "noticed" that amid the move for Hogh, while the club's total expenditure on summer signings remains relatively low.
Camilo Duran is currently the only other new face to have joined the squad, with Martin O'Neill set to work with a virtually identical unit to last season in Monday's opener against Dundee.
Keith Wyness: Celtic have 'blown' crucial pre-season chance
Aberdeen's former chief Wyness - who served as CEO at Pittodrie between 2000 and 2004 and now runs a consultancy business advising elite clubs - believes that Celtic's slow transfer business has left them with issues at the start of the campaign.
The Scottish businessman is clear that they have "blown" the chance to gel any further additions into the group during pre-season, something that he feels would have been crucial with their Champions League play-off on the horizon.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider's Inside Track podcast, Wyness hailed the signing of Hogh, but emphasised that it remains the same old story when it comes to the board's spending.
"Full marks to Celtic for getting that done. However, he's basically the replacement for Maeda, who's gone to Ipswich for £10m," he said.
"Basically Celtic haven't spent anything still again. They've got the Maeda money and they spent that. And the Celtic fans will have noticed that without a shadow of a doubt .
"They've been begging for more expenditure from the board and we're back every week saying the same thing. It's a great signing (Hogh) and they've done very well to get him.
"There should be two or three more of these coming through if Celtic really want to move and get this done. Now, they're going to be late in terms of getting ready for the European matches.
"So they've basically blown it already in my point of view in terms of getting a really enhanced squad together and getting them some pre-season time. So it's a big issue for Celtic right now."

Football Insider revealed on Sunday that Celtic are resigned to losing right-back Alistair Johnston this summer, with an expectation that their valuation of the star will be met.
Several Premier League sides have taken an interest in the Canada international after the World Cup, as an exit from Celtic Park now appears increasingly likely.
With the 27-year-old appearing increasingly likely to move on, things could be about to get even worse for Celtic before they get better.
