Celtic are reportedly interested in Hungarian international Milan Vitalis as Martin O’Neill plans to overhaul his midfield this summer.

After a sensational domestic campaign, where he picked up 12 goal contributions, he has now continued this form for his country as he took part in the 2-1 victory over Finland on Friday.

Against the Nordic side, Vitalis had a fantastic game and really showed what he could provide the Hoops in the upcoming campaign.

Celtic now must step up their interest in the upcoming star as it becomes increasingly clear that he would make a big impact in the Scottish Premiership.

Milan Vitalis shines for Hungary

Interest in Vitalis is high this summer transfer window, with both Aberdeen and Rangers reportedly competing with Celtic for his signature.

The midfielder possesses a great attacking mind after he netted nine league goals in the league this campaign. However, it was his defensive qualities that were on full show on Friday.

According to Football Insider's official data provider Statscore, against Finland, he completed two tackles, one clearance, three interceptions, three recoveries, and 93 per cent of his passes.

This is something that is clearly missing from Celtic’s squad, and could help clog up their leaky defence.

Hopefully, the Hoops look to make a quick move as O’Neill eyes multiple departures and additions to his midfield this summer.

Which midfielder could leave Celtic this summer?

Football Insider has exclusively revealed that Celtic are planning to accept offers for Reo Hatate this summer.

The midfielder has fallen down the pecking order at the Hoops and rarely featured towards the backend of the 2025-26 campaign.

Celtic have already found their Reo Hatate replacement as Benjamin Tahirovic swoop plotted

Sources say that the Glasgow giants have already moved on from the 28-year-old in terms of their long-term plans, and they will look to offload him to make way for further additions this summer.

O’Neill’s extended stay in the dugout will have only damaged Hatate’s chances of staying further, with the 74-year-old clearly not a fan of the Japan international.

However, it remains to be seen if any club plans to make a move for the midfielder this summer transfer window.
