Source: Kelechi Iheanacho makes Celtic transfer decision after receiving offers

Kelechi Iheanacho is keen to stay at Celtic for another season if a fresh contract offer is made to him, sources have told Football Insider.

The Bhoys' option to automatically extend the striker's previous deal into a second year expires today (Tuesday), and he already has interest from a whole host of clubs.

However, he is currently giving "priority" to a return to Celtic Park, while he remains "in limbo" as to where his future will lie.

Sources have indicated that the 29-year-old enjoyed his time at Parkhead, even though injuries limited him to just four starts across the league campaign.

Iheanacho struck five Premiership goals during his time with Martin O'Neill's side, including vital late winners against Hibernian and Motherwell after the league split.

He also netted in their Scottish FA Cup Final victory over Dunfermline, and became a hugely popular figure among the fanbase.

Iheanacho has had plenty of injury issues in recent years, but he is still set to have a whole host of suitors this summer.

The Nigerian is vastly experienced having previously enjoyed lengthy spells with both Manchester City and Leicester.

He helped Celtic to a league and cup double last season, but is currently a free agent after his contract expired.

Several top Turkish clubs have been alerted to the frontman's availability, with recent reports from the Scottish Sun even suggesting that he already has offers on the table to move to the Super Lig.

Iheancho's future currently hangs in the balance, and it remains to be seen whether Celtic will respond positively to his desire to stay.

O'Neill relied on him heavily to produce big moments for the team in the latter stages of the season, but that has not been enough for him to be rewarded with a new contract.

Celtic already chasing deal or new striker

Football Insider revealed earlier in June that Celtic are set to add at least one new striker to their ranks this summer.

O'Neill is concerned by the lack of physicality at the top of the pitch, and is believed to be after a new target man, following Tomas Cvancara's departure.

Daizen Maeda's future at Parkhead is also firmly up in the air, meaning Celtic could line up with a totally revamped frontline by the start of 2026-27.

The entire squad is set to be overhauled ahead of the new campaign, with the top of the pitch a major area of concern.
