Sources: Celtic ‘confident’ of agreeing Marcelo Saracchi deal after offer submitted
Celtic are "confident" of agreeing a deal with Boca Juniors to sign their former loan star Marcelo Saracchi, sources have told Football Insider.
Talks are expected to take place between the two clubs in an attempt to thrash out a deal for the 28-year-old left-back.
Celtic had seen a loan offer rejected for the Uruguay international this week, with Boca Juniors aiming for a permanent sale.
However, Martin O’Neill is keen to get the deal done, and Saracchi is open to returning to the Hoops this summer.
The defender spent the 2025-26 campaign on loan to Celtic, where he made 19 appearances in the Scottish Premiership as well as four appearances in the Europa League.
Saracchi would play a key role in their 3-1 victory over Hearts on the final day, which saw the club win the Scottish Premiership title.

The left-back was mainly used as a back-up to Kieran Tierney in the 2025-26 campaign.
However, when Saracchi was given a chance to shine, he did not let the team down.
According to Fotmob on 25 June, the defender has many eye-catching stats from the Scottish Premiership campaign, which saw Celtic retain the title.
Overall, he was averaging 0.14 goals, 0.27 assists, 1.90 chances created, 2.04 successful crosses, 1.09 successful dribbles and 6.38 recoveries per 90 minutes in the Scottish top-flight.
Therefore, it is of little surprise that Celtic are looking to bring the defender back to Parkhead, with Saracchi clearly having the ability to play at the level demanded of the division.

The midfielder has been a long-term target for the Hoops, and Go Ahead Eagles have placed a £4.4million price tag on his head.
Breum is about to enter the final year of his contract in the Eredivisie, and it is believed that such a price tag is “affordable” for Celtic this summer.
However, it remains to be seen if the Hoops make an official move for the midfielder, with a midfield overhaul expected at the club over the coming months.
