Who is Tobias Lauritsen? Everything you need to know about the giant linked with Celtic
Tobias Lauritsen has emerged as Celtic’s latest transfer target after a clinical few years in the Eredivisie.
The 28-year-old striker is now a free agent after his contract expired at Sparta Rotterdam at the end of the 2025-26 campaign.
Over the past four seasons, the six-foot-four-inch striker has been a clinical presence up top of the Dutch club, and netted 12 goals in the division last season.
Now, reports have emerged that Lauritsen is on the Hoops’ shortlist this summer as they search for a new striker.
After Kelechi Iheanacho’s contract expired, and with Daizen Maeda expected to depart this summer, a new striker is imperative at Celtic.
As a result, Football Insider has outlined everything you need to know about the attacker below.
Who is Tobias Lauritsen?
Born in Norway, Lauritsen started his football career in his home country and came through Herkules’ academy before making a few first-team appearances.
In 2013, he made the switch to Uraedd, where he was a huge success, which earned him a move to Odd just a year later.
After struggling to break into the first-team, he was sold to Pors in 2016, and once again showcased his clinical nature.
In Norway’s fourth-tier, he netted 32 goals in 26 matches, and was subsequently brought back by Odd in 2018.
From here, he finally broke into the first team and became a regular in the top-tier of Norwegian football.
In his final season for the club, he managed to net six goals in 15 matches before Sparta Rotterdam completed the swoop for the striker in 2022.
In the Eredivisie, Lauritsen netted at least 10 goals in each campaign and was included in two Team of the Month’s across his four-year spell at the club.
Now, after being unable to agree terms with Sparta Rotterdam, Il Secolo XIX has confirmed that Celtic are eyeing a move for the striker.
How good is Lauritsen?
According to Fotmob on 4 July, Lauritsen would potentially be an excellent option for Celtic next season.
Per 90 minutes, he averaged 0.36 goals, a 0.32 xG, 0.15 assists, 1.42 chances created, 9.47 duels won, 7.01 aerial duels won and 2.25 defensive contributions in the Dutch top flight.
Therefore, if these stats can be replicated, he could be an excellent addition to Celtic’s squad.
However, it remains to be seen if the Hoops can get a deal for Lauritsen over the line in the coming months.
