'Waste of wonderful young talent' - Chairman takes shot at Tottenham over stance on 21-year-old

By Harvey Byrne

Active social media user and Peterborough chairman Darragh MacAnthony has taken a shot at Tottenham, claiming it will be a waste of youngster Luke McGee’s talents if he is kept at the club.

The 21-year-old shot-stopper spent the last campaign on loan with the League One side, where he impressed and was named the Players Player of the Year.

Peterborough were also keen on re-signing him, but the Peterborough Telegraph reported earlier in the month that the club will not wait around for McGee with Spurs only willing to listen to offers until they have finished their pre-season tour of the U.S this summer.

Now, MacAnthony has reiterated these claims via his personal Twitter account on Saturday, while also hitting out at Tottenham, stating it’s a waste of “wonderful young talent” alongside comparing dealings with Premier League teams to that of climbing Mount Everest.

McGee enjoyed plenty of first team football for Peterborough in the last campaign, playing 45 times in all competitions which saw him keep 10 clean sheets while also conceding 62.

He has never made a senior appearance for Tottenham and with both Michel Vorm and Hugo Lloris he may struggle to breakthrough with two years left on his contract.
