Charlie Nicholas gives verdict on Tottenham clash with Stoke, questions summer signing

By Amir Mir

Charlie Nicholas believes Tottenham will drop points in their Premier League clash against Stoke on Saturday, and questioned how Moussa Sissoko will fit into the Spurs team.

Sky Sports pundit Nicholas does not see where £30million deadline-day signing Sissoko will fit into the Spurs midfield once Mousa Dembele comes back into action.

The ex-Arsenal man also said fans are beginning to panic over Harry Kane, as the striker has not scored in his last ten competitive games for club and country.

“Spurs have got to come out of the blocks and take advantage of this Stoke team starting slowly,” Nicholas wrote in his Sky Sports column.

“I thought the best piece of business on deadline day was Stoke getting Wilfried Bony because they’ve got all the ingredients to support him.

“As for Spurs, the media, if not the fans, are starting to panic about Harry Kane. It’s also a bit of a mystery in central midfield. Where is Moussa Sissoko going to fit into this team, especially when Mousa Dembele is back?

“I think it’s a bit confused at the moment.”

Nicholas predicted another 1-1 draw for Spurs as they visit Stoke at the weekend, with the north London club already having picked up two draws in their previous three games.

Pochettino’s solitary win this season came against Crystal Palace at White Hart Lane, and they sit seventh in the table after three games.

The Argentine will also have his mind on the Champions League opener on September 14 against French side Monaco at Wembley.

In other Tottenham team news, the club have been given a boost as key player is set to miss the African Cup of Nations.
