Chelsea are planning to bring a marquee winger signing to the club this summer amid new question marks internally over Raheem Sterling's future at the club, sources have told Football Insider.

Sterling, 29, started the 2023-24 campaign as a regular under Mauricio Pochettino but is now only being used as part of the Blues rotation.

The Stamford Bridge club are planning to refresh their wide options with a potential big-money signing in the off-season.

The Spain international will be available via a £43million release clause in his contract with Athletic.

Chelsea chiefs 'disappointed' with Sterling as new signing lined up

Sterling could be one of multiple potential casualties if Williams does move to London this summer.

A well-placed source has told Football Insider that both Pochettino and Chelsea recruitment staff have been left "disappointed" with the England international's performances since he joined in 2022.

Sterling has made 38 appearances across all competitions for the Blues this season, notching eight goals and eight assists.

He has started just one of the last five Premier League games and was an unused substitute for the 2-2 away draw at Sheffield United on Sunday (7 April).

The winger joined Chelsea from Man City for a reported £47.5million two years ago and signed a contract running until June 2027.

Pochettino's side sit ninth in the Premier League after the draw at Bramall Lane.

They are unbeaten in their last seven games across all competitions and face an FA Cup semi-final against Man City later this month (20 April).
