Chelsea next manager: Odds tumble on Ruben Amorim making Stamford Bridge move

Chelsea are searching for a new manager after Liam Rosenior was dismissed on Wednesday.

Multiple coaches have been linked with the vacancy, with the Blues currently amid a crisis.

One manager who is currently out of work is Ruben Amorim, after he was sacked at Manchester United earlier this season.

Now, he could be in line for a shock move to Stamford Bridge, with it being priced at 33/1 as Oddschecker on 24 April confirms that these odds have been slashed.

Amorim heavily underperformed at Man United, and a move to Chelsea would be a huge surprise.

Could Ruben Amorim succeed at Chelsea?

Amorim’s time in the Premier League did not go well.

At Old Trafford, he struggled massively and led the club to their worst-ever Premier League finish in the 2024-25 campaign.

On top of this, he was unable to win the Europa League, losing to Tottenham Hotspur in the final.

While improvements were made this season, clashes between him and the board eventually made his position untenable.

As a result, it is hard to see Amorim ever working out at Chelsea. The manager clearly struggled to adapt to Premier League football and found it hard to work with difficult owners.

That is without even considering the implications of becoming the Chelsea manager so soon after being the Man United boss.

Who else is linked with the Chelsea job?

While former Man United assistant manager Mick Brown exclusively told Football Insider that issues in the Chelsea dressing room could make things difficult for Chelsea’s next manager, plenty of big names have been linked to the role.

Current AFC Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola is the current favourite at 11/10, with the coach set to depart when the campaign ends.

Following this is Filipe Luis and Cesc Fabregas at 5/1 and 6/1, with the duo both impressing early in their managerial careers.

Frank Lampard is yet to be ruled out at 10/1 after guiding Coventry City back to the Premier League this season.

On top of this, Oliver Glasner is yet to be ruled out at 12/1, with the current Crystal Palace manager also set to depart once the 2025-26 campaign draws to a close.
