Finance guru: Chelsea aren't telling us the whole truth as Roman Abramovich details emerge
It is likely that Chelsea are unable to explain the whole truth about why the Government is yet to distribute the funds from Todd Boehly’s takeover to the victims of the war in Ukraine.
That is the view of finance expert Doctor Dan Plumley, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the ongoing fallout from the £2.5billion buyout in May.
A consortium led by American billionaire completed the takeover after Roman Abramovich was forced to sell because of Government sanctions relating to his links to Russian president Vladimir Putin.
It was promised that the proceeds from the buyout would go to those affected by the war in Ukraine.
But per The Times last Wednesday (31 August), the cash is still in Abramovich’s company account almost four months down the line.
An unnamed MP told The Times that the Foreign Office have been “hopelessly slow” in actioning the redistribution.

Plumley suggests that confidentiality restrictions will limit Chelsea from explaining the full story.
“It’s one of those things where we don’t know the full process and operations,” the Sheffield Hallam University expert told Football Insider’s Adam Williams.
“Promises were made and you would like to take them on their word that they will be delivered on. There are probably things they can’t tell us about why it hasn’t quite been actioned yet.
“Whatever the hold-up is, you just hope things pan out the way they said they would. That’s the bottom line here.”
Chelsea were beaten 1-0 by Dinamo Zagreb in their Champions League campaign opener on Tuesday (6 September).
They have taken 10 points from their opening six matches in the league.
