Chelsea sensation sends brilliant message to fans after deal agreed

Chelsea sensation Josh Acheampong is "excited for this new chapter" after signing a new long-term deal with the club.

The highly-regarded 18-year-old had previously been frozen out at Chelsea, banned from playing for either the first team or the youth teams until he signed a new deal.

Acheampong has since made his return, earning his first start in Chelsea's comfortable 3-1 Europa Conference League win over FC Astana on December 12th.

Chelsea have finally tied the young right-back down to a new deal, keeping him in West London until the summer of 2029.

Football Insider had previously revealed (November 1) that Liverpool, among several other European clubs, were interested in the youngster but Acheampong has now put that speculation to rest.

Reece James' ongoing injury issues mean the youngster may be afforded more opportunities to impress, with many fans suggesting he's ready to make the step up.

Acheampong has made six appearances across all competitions in both youth at senior football for Chelsea this season, starting four, and providing one assist in 390 minutes of action.

The defender took to Instagram to celebrate his new deal, saying: "I’m so pleased to announce that I have signed a new contract with my boyhood club. Excited for this new chapter. It means so much and can’t wait to continue this journey."

Acheampong could make an appearance in Chelsea's Europa Conference League game with Irish club Shamrock Rovers on Thursday (December 19).

Enzo Maresca's side have four games left in the second half of December, rounding off their hectic festive period with a Premier League clash with Ipswich Town on the 29th.
