Chelsea stars to question BlueCo with ‘red lights flashing’ as Liam Rosenior sack edges closer
Chelsea’s players will be questioning the club’s ownership if they decide to sack manager Liam Rosenior.
That is according to ex-Everton, Aston Villa and Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, as pressure grows on Rosenior at Stamford Bridge amid a run of four straight Premier League defeats.
Rosenior became Chelsea’s second manager of the season following the club’s decision to sack Enzo Maresca in January.
The 41-year-old was a controversial appointment at the time as he arrived from sister club Strasbourg, and had never managed in the Premier League.
Chelsea could make a managerial change in the summer, with the Blues set to miss out on Champions League qualification.

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes the ownership would have to take the blame for appointing Rosenior.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness can’t see any stability at the club to point towards success in the future.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “If they were to make a change by dismissing Rosenior, that would mean another decision that they’ve got wrong at managerial level.
“Then all the main players who were supposed to be there, what are they thinking right now? I mean, there were a lot of players that were very sad to see Enzo Maresca go and there are a lot of things there.
“Red lights to me flashing at Chelsea is not good, I’m afraid I just don’t see a clear way forward, cohesion, stability, and all the things that provide for success. I do think the private equity experiment is the right way to phrase this about Chelsea.”
Expert reveals financial problem at Chelsea
Former Manchester City financial advisor Stefan Borson told Football Insider that Chelsea face problems with their transfer model.
Borson said that the Blues are not making profits on player sales due to the high transactional costs they are paying on transfers.
Chelsea have spent over £1billion under BlueCo, and the club reported a pre-tax loss of 262million in their 2024-25 accounts, making player trading financially important.
The Blues have spent the most money out of all Premier League clubs on agent fees for three years running, and are expected to be active again this summer.
