Chelsea fans have demanded that Jamie Gittens be sold before the summer window closes after he struggled in their friendly defeat to Juventus.

Xabi Alonso is looking to make some real improvements to his squad this summer after arriving at Stamford Bridge.

Their struggles under Enzo Maresca and Liam Rosenior mean the new Blues boss is not having to contend with European football in his first campaign.

The Chelsea squad was already bloated before his appointment, and he has seen eight new signings join up with his squad this summer.

Several high-profile departures are expected over the next month, with Gittens' future potentially up in the air after a tough first season at Stamford Bridge.

His campaign was curtailed in January due to a hamstring injury, and many Blues fans are keen to see him moved on this month after their latest pre-season outing.

Jamie Gittens slammed by Chelsea fans after 'abysmal' Juventus performance

Chelsea paid £48.5million to sign Gittens from Borussia Dortmund last summer after he had registered 15 goal contributions in 49 appearances during 2024-25.

He struggled to nail down a starting spot for the Blues, and failed to score while notching two assists in his 16 league outings last season.

The 21-year-old has seen Morgan Rogers and Geovany Quenda arrive at the club to compete for places on the wings for the coming campaign.

He started against Juventus in Hong Kong on Wednesday afternoon, but failed to create a chance or register a shot on target, won just three of his nine attempted duels and only completed two successful dribbles.

Many fans took to X to criticise his performance and demand that he is sold this summer, with one saying: "Gittens should be sold or loaned out. I've seen enough."

While another wrote: "Gittens ain't ready and he should be loaned or sold. I see no talent."

And one supporter added: "How are we stuck with this Gittens guy? He needs to be sold. No impact in games. Why is he still here?"

Mykhailo Mudryk's 'likely destination' revealed as Chelsea set exit plan

Is Gittens part of Alonso's plans for the upcoming season?

Mykhailo Mudryk is another new wing option for Alonso alongside Gittens after he made his first Chelsea appearance in 20 months against Juventus after serving a doping ban.

Sources have exclusively revealed to Football Insider that Mudryk will be loaned out by the Blues this month, however, with Coventry manager Frank Lampard keen on his services.

Gittens replied with "yeah" when asked by a reporter last week if he had been told he was part of Alonso's plans for the coming season.

He then went on to add: "He just wants me to keep being positive, to keep taking on players, to keep creating chances and to keep pushing myself to the maximum," so it looks like Chelsea fans will not be getting their way this summer.
