Cole Palmer sends emotional message as Man United transfer announced
Cole Palmer has wished Andrey Santos luck after his move from Chelsea to Man United was confirmed on Monday.
Santos emerged as a target for United last week amid Michael Carrick's aim to bolster his midfield ranks this summer.
He struggled to nail down a regular starting spot at Chelsea last season, but still made 47 appearances across all competitions.
Santos' switch to the Red Devils was officially announced on Monday afternoon, with the initial fee believed to be in the region of £48million.
Chelsea star Palmer, who has been linked with a huge move to United in the last few months, has reached out to his former teammate on social media following the transfer.
United fans will be pleased with what he wrote on Instagram as they look to replace Casemiro following his departure at the end of his contract.
The message could well fuel speculation around Palmer possibly joining the Red Devils in the near future, especially after he struggled to hit his previous heights at Chelsea last season.
Cole Palmer praises Andrey Santos as Man United arrival announced
Palmer may have emerged through the ranks at Man City, but he has been mooted to move back to his home city with United over the last 12 months.
Reports in January claimed that he was homesick in London and open to the possibility of joining the Red Devils, though then-boss Liam Rosenior quickly played down talk of a move.
United announced the arrival of his now former Chelsea teammate on Instagram on Monday, as he stood in front of the camera and explained his dream to play for the club.
Palmer subsequently replied to the announcement video with a message that said: "What a player! Good luck bro," with a red heart emoji.
Who else has praised Santos publicly?
Sources have revealed to Football Insider that United still want to sign two more midfielders after agreeing a deal for Santos.
The 22-year-old is certainly someone they should be excited about, though, especially given how he has been praised by others in the sport before Palmer's latest comment.
Back in February, Rosenior said: "Andrey, for me, is a magnificent player. He’s a young player who plays way beyond his years. He is what I would call an 'intangibles player', where he does things in games that sometimes people don’t see.
"He will, for example, fill a position when the ball is nowhere near him, or he’ll make the right pass and two or three passes later we end up with a chance. Andrey helps players around him become better players because he’s so selfless in the way he plays. He’s been top in the games that he’s played, and I’m really enjoying working with him again."
As well as that, Joe Cole talked up the idea of him starting regularly for the Blues after he shone against Burnley last November, saying: “He looks like a starter. He was absolutely outstanding. Every time there was a bit of danger, he sniffed it out.
"Sometimes players have a natural ability in this area, and he seems to be one of those types of players."
