Pedro Neto was Chelsea's real star in their demolition of Bournemouth, his stats are amazing
Pedro Neto delivered an exceptional performance as Chelsea smashed Bournemouth 5-1 at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
Jordan Henderson scored a stunning brace for the Blues, with Morgan Rogers and Joao Pedro also finding the net to rule Evanilson's strike a consolation.
Xabi Alonso's side had been without a win in two Premier League games before the break, but bounced back emphatically to return to the top five.
Neto, 26, had been tipped for a potential departure in the summer but has become a key player in his new manager's system, providing width at right wing-back.
The Portugal international was awarded with a new contract in September, committing his future at Stamford Bridge until at least 2032.
And the winger showed exactly why Chelsea were willing to lock him down for such a long time with a dazzling performance against Bournemouth on Saturday.
Pedro Neto's remarkable stats
Neto's biggest contribution came when he broke down the right at the start of the second half, taking advantage of the defender's error.
The winger found Pedro with an accurate pull-back, claiming his first assist of the season.
But his contributions went far beyond that, and they were key to keeping Bournemouth constantly stretched and vulnerable to the transition.
Neto enjoyed six touches in the opposition box - more than anybody on the pitch - and had a shot himself that was well saved at the near post.
He ran and ran at his defender, was fouled once and reached the highest speed of anybody - 34.2 km/h - while also completing three of the five dribbles he attempted.
But Neto got his defensive work done, too. He won two tackles, made a clearance, three recoveries and won six duels.
Xabi Alonso genius has transformed Neto
Neto was far from a poor player last season - he scored 13 goals and provided 10 assists across all competitions for Chelsea.
Yet he often prompted frustration and was criticised for his decision-making in the final third.
This season, however, Neto looks to be a player reborn in his new position in Alonso's system.
And should the 26-year-old keep producing performances like Saturday's, he will not be going anywhere.
