Filip Jorgensen has asked to leave Chelsea this summer in a bid to become a number one elsewhere, sources have told Football Insider.

The Blues are not expected to stand in the 24-year-old's way and but want more than £15million for the goalkeeper.

The Denmark international arrived at Stamford Bridge from Villarreal in 2024, signing a contract until 2031 after a deal worth around £20m was agreed.

Jorgensen made just 12 appearances across all competitions for Chelsea this season, however, and is keen for more regular playing time to continue his development.

New manager Xabi Alonso could yet impact any summer movement, but the current expectation is that Robert Sanchez will keep his place in between the sticks.

Chelsea had a bid rejected for Mike Maignan last summer and could revisit a deal for the France number one, albeit at far greater cost.

Why Filip Jorgensen has been locked out at Chelsea

Jorgensen's first season at Chelsea came with the expectation that he would be playing behind Sanchez.

The young goalkeeper had enjoyed a successful season in La Liga, but appeared to be happy to bide his time at Stamford Bridge.

Even despite that, Enzo Maresca gave the 24-year-old 24 appearances across all competitions, including the run to and the final of a successful Conference League campaign.

All manner of problems have occurred for Jorgensen this season, however. Maresca's January exit and significant injury issues saw him spend most of the season out of the team, with a huge error against PSG in March marring the few opportunities he did have.

The Dane returned to the team when Sanchez was injured in May, but he was back on the bench immediately after the Spaniard had returned.

With his opportunity for minutes only appearing more limited after Chelsea missed out on any form of European football, Jorgensen has made his intentions clear.

Who is available for Chelsea?

With Chelsea already facing an overhaul under Alonso this summer, transfer chiefs will be hesitant to spend big money on a new back-up goalkeeper.

The free agent list may be turned to with that in mind, and there are several options available.

Illan Meslier is a name that has sparked interest at Stamford Bridge in previous years, and the 26-year-old is available this summer after leaving Leeds United.

More experienced options in Stefan Ortega and Yann Sommer are also available, but it remains to be seen how Chelsea want to handle the position.

The Blues also have a number of young goalkeepers on the books, with Mike Penders, who spent the season on loan at Strasbourg, likely the natural choice.
