Chelsea have emerged as the odds-on favourites to secure a sensational late deal for Bournemouth’s Alex Scott.

Reports emerged on Wednesday that the Blues are preparing a last-ditch mega offer to try and seal the 23-year-old midfielder’s signature before the transfer window closes.

Scott is viewed as a potential replacement for Enzo Fernandez, who continues to be linked to Manchester City this summer.

Now, one UK bookmaker has slashed the odds on Chelsea signing the midfielder down to 4/5, making them the clear favourites.

Scott’s future has been under heavy speculation this summer after he rejected a new contract.

Multiple Premier League sides have been linked with the youngster, with Man City and Liverpool also reportedly showing interest.

Bournemouth remain adamant that Alex Scott is not for sale

Despite Chelsea’s interest, the Cherries have little interest in selling Scott so late in the transfer window.

The Mirror has reported that Bournemouth has insisted that they will make no more sales this summer.

Nevertheless, Scott is Chelsea’s number one target to replace Fernandez, and they have pursued the midfielder all summer.

Scott is seen as one of English football’s top prospects and went with England’s pre-World Cup training group to the United States.

Last season, he made 37 appearances in the Premier League as Bournemouth finished sixth and subsequently qualified for the Europa League for the first time in their history.

Who else is in the race for Scott?

On top of Chelsea, there are plenty of other clubs looking to win the race for Scott’s signature this month.

Both Liverpool and Man City remain the second favourites to secure a deal before the transfer window closes at 4/1.

A surprise move to Tottenham Hotspur is yet to be ruled out at 8/1, with the club not afraid to splash the cash so far this summer.

Following this, Manchester United and Newcastle United are considered outsiders for his signature at 12/1 as both clubs look to reinforce their midfield ahead of the 1 September deadline.

However, it remains to be seen where Scott will be playing his football throughout the 2026-27 campaign, with speculation surrounding the midfielder refusing to die down going into the final days of the transfer window.
