Chelsea set to sign Harrison Bettoni as deal agreed after talks
Chelsea have won the race to sign Wigan Athletic youngster Harrison Bettoni, sources have told Football Insider.
The 18-year-old is out of contract at the Brick Community Stadium this summer, and the Blues have moved to secure his signature for minimal compensation.
The attacking midfielder also held talks with Manchester City and AC Milan, but sources have now indicated that Chelsea have agreed a deal and are set to sign him.
Bettoni is seen as a potential star in the making at Stamford Bridge, and the West London side have fought off their competition to land him.
The attacker ended the 2025-26 campaign with four goals from just 11 starts, as he dazzled after bursting onto the scene at senior level.
Bettoni will now take the next steps of his development at Chelsea, with Wigan's attempts to keep him set to be in vain.
Chelsea win race for teenage sensation Harrison Bettoni
Bettoni netted a brace against AFC Wimbledon on his league debut for Wigan back in November, as he came off the bench to win them the game in London.
He hasn't looked back since then, and ultimately ended the campaign with 27 appearances to his name in all competitions.
The starlet's exploits had alerted some of Europe's top clubs to his imminent availability, while a series of Championship sides were also lurking to offer him a direct step up.
Chelsea have a reputation for having one of the strongest youth setups in the entire country, and they will now have another future star in their ranks next term in Bettoni.
It remains to be seen whether the West London outfit will keep him as part of their U18 side or loan him out next term, but they are sure to already have a plan in place for the youngster.
Chelsea told to accept cut-price sponsorship deal
Former Manchester City financial advisor Stefan Borson recently told Football Insider that Chelsea's £50million valuation for their front-of-shirt sponsorship is excessive.
The Blues are yet to agree on a front-of-shirt sponsor for the 2026-27 campaign, having also gone without one this term.
Borson has made it clear that they need to lower their asking price down towards the £30m mark, or they are at serious risk of starting the season without a deal in place once again.
Sponsorships are a hugely valuable source of income for all Premier League clubs, and the football finance expert was clear that Chelsea need to re-think their demands.
