Man City re-emerge as odds-on favourites to sign Enzo Fernandez after 'update'
Manchester City have once again become the odds-on favourites to sign Enzo Fernandez before the transfer window closes.
Reports have emerged that City intend to bid for the Argentina international, despite missing the Blues’ deadline last week.
It is believed that Chelsea are open to a sale in the remaining days, but are currently working on the premise that the midfielder will be at the club once the transfer window has closed.
Nevertheless, one UK bookmaker has now slashed Man City odds on completing a deal back down to 10/11.
City had previously been odds-on favourites to complete the signing earlier this month, but this was removed.
This comes amid Man City’s search for a new midfielder after Rodri departed the club for Barcelona this week.
Enzo Fernandez would be a risk for Man City
Fernandez is obviously one of City’s main targets this summer.
Talksport’s report has made it clear that despite the deadline passing, the Manchester club are still very much interested in the midfielder.
However, while Enzo Maresca did work with the 25-year-old at Chelsea, it is still a risky signing.
The Blues are unlikely to be willing to sell Fernandez for cheap at this stage in the window, and could demand an extortionate fee if they are to let him go.
On top of this, the midfielder has not exactly been fantastic at Stamford Bridge in recent years.
Fernandez has only won two trophies at the club, one being the Conference League, and was part of a squad that failed to qualify for Europe last season.
Nevertheless, it remains to be seen if City will actually make a bid for the Argentine in the closing days of the transfer window.
Who else could Man City sign this summer?
Recent reports have indicated that Man City are also chasing Manu Kone.
The Roma midfielder is also another potential replacement for Rodri as the club looks to fill the hole he has left in the middle of the park.
Manchester United have previously been linked with a move for the 25-year-old after an impressive run of form in the Serie A.
However, it remains to be seen who City bring through the door in the final weeks of the transfer window.
